The Strangers Project In Your Community

Partnerships & Activations

Since 2009, I’ve collected handwritten stories from thousands of people in public spaces across the country. While spontaneous collecting remains at the project’s heart, I also bring these powerful story-sharing experiences to scheduled activations, exhibits, and special events.

I regularly partner with businesses, schools, festivals, and community groups to spark meaningful conversations and build connections through storytelling.

Scroll Down to learn how you can bring The Strangers Project to your space!

Experience Variables

  • Activations can scale to almost any size.
  • Every story is hand written on the spot.
  • Projects span several days to weeks, months, or yearly.
  • Whether indoor or outdoor, we work with you to create a special space.

Activate Your Space

Why Bring The Strangers Project?

+ Interactive Storytelling
Visitors are not just observers but active contributors, creating a collaborative tapestry of narratives under SP’s thoughtful curation. Each session evolves uniquely, as more stories infuse the space with diverse perspectives.

 + Cultural Enrichment
Each active installation becomes a cultural beacon in the city, a hub for empathy, reflection, and understanding, often transforming a routine path into a journey of discovery and connection.
It’s more than an exhibit; it’s a living conversation, inviting all to share, listen, and connect on a profoundly human level.

 + Space Holding
Our presence on location offers a personal touch, as we encourage storytellers to unveil their experiences, amplifying the authenticity of each handwritten story, enriching the collective narrative.

I'm so honored you're interested in bringing The Strangers Project to your community.

This is a one-person, self-sustained project—and to keep it going, I can currently only commit to events with dedicated budgets.
That said, I know that some of the most meaningful collaborations come from classrooms, grassroots organizers, and community-led efforts with limited resources. If you have a strong vision but a small or no budget,
I’d still love to hear from you. Please fill out the form below if you'd like to stay in the loop as I work toward making more of those kinds of collaborations possible.

WHAT KIND OF SPACES ARE GREAT FOR STORIES?

Strangers Project activations make sense just about everywhere. If a space has people—then there is space for stories. Here are a few examples.

FESTIVALS & MARKETS

RETAIL SPACES

CONFERENCES

MUSEUMS

COMMUNITY ORGS

TO PUT IT SIMPLY...
ALL SPACES AND COMMUNITIES
ARE RIGHT FOR STORIES!

I had no idea how transformative the day would be for both our family and the entire school community. I watched in awe as my second grader, who always refused to write even one small paragraph of original material, eagerly filled two entire pages with her thoughts (and has been writing in a journal ever since).

Everywhere I looked, kids were writing furiously without fear or hesitation. Our entire community learned a valuable lesson about empathy and the realization that everyone around us has a story to tell and deserves to be heard and respected. Thank you, Strangers Project!

In the current climate of strained discourse and division, the Strangers Project is among the most relevant, important and powerful uses of our public space.

Our frenetic New York City public plazas have hosted the Strangers Project on multiple occasions. Each time, the project's magnetism attracts thousands of New Yorkers from every walk of life, who pause and reflect, read the intimate stories of others, and share their own innermost thoughts.

The Strangers Project transformed our space into a library of collective secrets and emotions. People flooded off the street into our space - locals, tourists, young and old - and found themselves at home within our walls and amongst the stories Brandon has collected.

Many people would spend hours in the space reading, crying, laughing and it created an atmosphere of openness, sharing and empathy. It was an honor to showcase the project and people continue to visit our space and recall their experience of The Strangers Project.

Years ago, I started my own unlikely art project, inviting strangers to mail me their secret anonymously on a postcard. I believe my project, PostSecret, and the Strangers Project are part of a larger tradition of people who value the everyday experiences of ordinary people.

By taking this organic approach, Brandon discovered raw authenticity and a wide diversity of experience, which also led to some surprises.
